Movie: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes(1953)

No comments:
A blonde.A brunette.Funny lines.Famous scenes and, of course, magnificent costumes.
Either you watched the movie or not, it's impossible not to know the song "Diamonds are a girl's best friend"  and the very pink dress that Marilyn Monroe wore while performing it.

The costume designer was none other than William Travilla, who worked cloesely with Marilyn. Both William and Marilyn had some daring ideas for that time regarding the wardrobe.

The well-known pink satin dress wasn't the first choice for filming this scene.Travilla initially designed a show girl costume that was embellished with diamonds.

Marilyn wasn't allowed to wear such revealing costumes, because she posed naked for a calendar in 1949.Travilla was asked to design something else to cover her up.

The movie had another scene where Marilyn dances with Lord Beekman wearing a very sexy gold dress while singing a song entited "Down Boy".The reason you see only a few seconds of this scene is because it was considered inappropriate and was nearly cut.The front of the dress is not revealed in the movie.

The same gold lame evening dress was previously worn by Ginger Rogers in the movie "Dreamboat".
