Everything the characters wore, literally from head to feet, was custom-made for them.Renée Zellweger's costumes were created by the Montreal-based clothing company Le Chateau.

Costume designer Daniel Orlandi went through every Vogue  ,Harper's BazaarGQ and Esquire  from 1962-64 before sitting down to sketch the 100-plus costumes. "We didn't want to use vintage clothes on Renee or any of the other principals because we didn't want it to look thrift-shoppy," says Orlandi, who instead used vintage fabric for many of his designs. "We wanted the clothes to seem fun and surprising, not campy."

Zellweger never repeats a pair of shoes, gloves or a hat. She calls the fashions "celebratory of femininity" and says they made her put a little something extra in her step.
